Then This Happened: Part 455

It's been just over a week since I returned from a long weekend at home and I already miss it. Big surprise there.

Once a runner. Always a runner. I think it's about time to get back in the saddle.

More NM sky. Seeing something like this, in person, can make you feel pretty small.

Dogs get grey in their beards too. There's no grey in my beard (thank goodness) but there is in his. He's soon to be fifty-six in dog years so I suppose it was bound to happen at some point.

He's still looking good though, that dog.

Abe's Motel? Not so good. Quesadillas made on the motel kitchenette's electric stove? Very good! Hard to go wrong with tortillas from Frontier Restaurant, cheddar and pepperjack cheese, roasted chicken, tomatoes, and avocados.

Catching a 21-inch rainbow trout on a fly rod? Also very good.

One of my all-time favorite slogans. There's certainly something to be said for well-crafted goods and the attention to detail and careful construction that goes into them. I wish I could say this log carrier is mine but it's my dad's. Unfortunately, I don't have a fireplace but someday.

And yes, log carriers are incredibly practical. Especially when a fireplace serves as central heating.

I think winter might be the most stubborn of the four seasons. The snow and ice is gone for now but I have a sneaking suspicion that it's not the last that we'll see before spring finally arrives.
